Hi. Do you think i could use this PSU without internal fan ( 85mm i believe, 12v/0.13amp ) for long time , making holes/grill in its case ?
I've been testing it without fan but also without top cover for few hours wathing demos with a1200/tf1260 and it generate some minimal heat but all was stable , without any problems. I would say installing this fan pulling air from inside of the psu , especially without any extra in-holes/vents allowing air was a bit dratic option imo ( i mean noise - this small fans powered by 12v ... very noisy ). I managed to rewire and replace this fan to new better quality , but realized pretty all fans despite being good or low quality make noise when spinning at full speed (12v). I could install some reducer or knob controler, but i wonder if this really need some active cooling, and if drilling some 100s holes in the cover and removing fan completely would be efficient ?
Also do you know is this PSU has some kind protection so it will shut down if too hot etc ? I just don't want to hear any kind of noise while using my Amy ...

Have you considered the Noctua range of fans? Something like this could be what you are looking for:

https://noctua.at/en/nf-a8-pwm

<edit>
Going by the pictures, that fan is not attached to the case. If the fan is causing noise and/or vibration then you could try attaching it directly, using rubber standoffs or pads between the fan and case.

It's attached just by 1 screw ( firm though, without any vibrations ), it's new fan 92mm so a bit bigger, only fan i had to test it... I just checked that noctua fan reviews, seems like it is not much better on full speed than mine now, so instead spendin£16 on the fan i shoul probably buy ATX adaptor and use one of my ATX PSUs, got nice sff be quiet 350w PSU which is dead quiet! Or mount some reducer to the current fan ... Or maybe i could just use it without fan...
I was just interested if someone used this specific PSU without cooler... Thanks though!

OK, so i decided to say hi to my bosch, and make some modification. Old nanoxia fan controler + modified psu-fan plug, all tested spinning on very low rpm now, nearly dead quiet!

@cactoos your first Goliath picture started my nervous twitch 😂
I killed my A1200 back in the day by re-wiring the Amiga side. I did not note that the colours were different and just matched the colours up :(. -never thought about getting it repaired as it gave me the reason to go to Pentium 2 power and 3D acceleration.

The reason was the cable to the Amiga was not long enough for the Goliath to be sat on the floor and reach the Amiga on a (normal height) desk. I had to sit it on a box.

Just out of interest is your cable long enough?

I wired/replaced the original lead on my first goliath by using one off an old a500 psu. This was back in 1996. This Instantly allowed me to put the psu anywhere I wanted, within reason but still out of the way enough to keep things comfortable.

PSU - > Amiga cable is approx 70cm-75cm. Mains - > PSU cables tested : standard 0.8-1.5m. Goliath is currently sitting on my desk, next to my Amiga... but i live in pc building/repair chaos here , so i don't mind :)
