I have a 2000 where I have installed terrible fire 534 and it has workbench. I was wondering if there is any real reason to buy and install a gotek drive. It seems very nice in a picture where the gotek was installed in front bay of the 2000. But other than that I am not so sure if it makes any practical difference.

What's your thoughts on this please?

GoTeks are very useful.

Personally I don't like the look of a GoTek in a 2000. They just don't fit right. Considering the popularity of 2000s, I'm surprised this has not been addressed by someone outside of 3D.

I don't have Goteks installed in my 2500/4000 because these look ugly in the case. I use an external Gotek instead if I ever need to use it.

The one that I have seen it fits like the internal floppy drive (with the same small gap in the perimeter).

I'd print it, and order a matching color afterwards. I usually order spray paint from within the automobile industry, there are shops with spectrometers. One can show them an original part, and ask for the same color to be made.

For actual use, yes, get one. Most files are distributed via ADF disk images. You still need an easy way to get the images from the Internet to your A2000. The USB is what you'll use to move files from your main PC/Mac (Internet) to your A2000. If you have an A2000 network card/plip box then a gotek is not urgent upgrade.

For my own 3D prints I started out with a generic download from thingeverse, imported the stl into Tinkercad, then added 1mm to each side (and top?, I don't remember) to make it fit better, then removed the Amiga name from the gotek (the front of your Amiga already says Amiga, the label is redundant). After a solid print I then paint it. Search this board and you'll find some previous chats about A2000 face plate color.
