I bought this DF0 selector: http://amigastore.eu/en/485-df0-selector.html

and this external drive Gotek cable: http://www.ebay.fr/itm/External-Ami...982351?hash=item3f6821c18f:g:UBMAAOSwtUtXA4N6

My hope is to use the Gotek as DF0 when I switch the drive selector to 'On'. My Amiga 500 has kickstart 3.1.

No matter what I try I can never boot to the Gotek when connected externally. I prove the Gotek works because when I connect to the internally by replacing the floppy drive it works great. I tried the DF0 selector to on and off with no difference. I also tried booting to DF1 using the boot options of kickstart 3.1 and it does not work.

I also tried disconnecting the internal drive while the Gotek was connected externally and no luck. The Gotek has a jumper on S0 which I believe is correct.

Any suggestions please? I have tried everything I can think of at this point!

Thank you!

Is the Gotek working correct when placed as external I.E. assigning slots, reading&writing to slots? If so then the DF0 swap or early boot selection should work as intended. You might need to jump S1 insted of S0 when Gotek is connected as external.

Hope this will help you solve the problem.

Thank you for the response! I tried the jumper with no luck. I then found out the cable connector is upside down .. i.e. the notch on the cable must go in the up position even though the gotek has a place for the notch on the bottom and the cable connects normally when used with the internal drive cable.

Nice you find the fault. Did forget to hint about cable allingment sins Gotek PCB have a silkscreen where pin 2 and 34 are showen at both ends of the floppy connector....

Happy Amiga time ;)
