HI all,

Just received today a Gotek card with HxC firmware built in for my Amiga 500. I installed in my amiga directly replacing the internal and following advice in other posts, I placed the jumper in the S0 position for DF0 (3rd from the right). When I launch it, it is asking for the WB 1.3 disk. I have it in there as an ADF file but I need to get to the selector first. Does the Gotek require the same selector.adf even though it is no longer cortex firmware or is there another problem?

And just for grins, I did place the selector.adf in root and go the same WB 1.3 logo we have seen a million times

After you load the .adf files on your stick, you need to boot into the gotek selector screen and pick your .add files and assign them to their own slots. Then when you reboot, you need to push the up/down buttons to get to the slot number where you put the WB .adf.
For flashing it, this is what I had to do:

Did you notice that he is using the HxC firmware and not Cortex?

Edit: Is the cable oriented correctly? I can't remember if it is the same as the original drive or if it is flipped.

I'm beginning to wonder although I have seen youtube videos and I think I have it in right. When facing the amiga from the front, the floppy cable red pin is the rightmost pin on the board and the red pin is nearest the power on the Gotek.

Files are now on the the 2gb FAT32 usb with the same issue.

Selector.adf works only with Cortex firmware.
For HxC, you need autoboot.hfe.

Thank you, yes I had the autoboot.hfc on the usb but the HxCSDFE.cfg file on the zips you provided was much larger than the version I had, and I think I am closer. The Gotek goes from HxC to 000 with the usb attached (without it sticks on HxC) but I am still getting the WB 1.3 logo. Do I need this file in a format for it to read and if so what is the filename for WB?

Edit : My mistake, it goes to 000

I'm out of ideas. I read that 000 means the software is loaded on the device so I tried all the hardware tricks I could think of. Swapped floppy drive cables, tryed the cable both ways, nothing. I still get the WB 1.3 screen.

Since it says 000 in the display, it should have an image mounted and be working. Does it say HxC in the display when the USB key is disconnected? Just to make sure it is actually flashed correctly.

First you need to decide which mode you want to use it in.

It has these three modes: Normal, Indexed and Autoboot. You choose the appropriate HXCSDFE.CFG file depending on which mode you want.
Normal mode requires an LCD screen and an extra button. If you do not have that, you can use either Indexed or Autoboot mode. In indexed mode, the images needs to be called DSKA0000.HFE, DSKA0001.HFE etc. The Autoboot mode boots the AUTOBOOT.HFE file where you can select the image you want to boot. This is probably the one you want if you want to use ADF files directly.

For autoboot mode, you put the files from this archive in the root:
http://hxc2001.com/download/floppy_drive_emulator/SDCard_HxC_Floppy_Emulator_Manager.zip

The LED should flash briefly when you turn on the Amiga. If it lights continuously, the cable is connected the wrong way.

Thanks for explaining the modes. I have used that particular file before, and when I tried again I got the same. LED as you mentioned flashes briefly, light on usb stick flashes momentarily on boot and goes idle. Display on Gotek goes from Hxc to 000 with the usb attached, back to HxC when removed. I think it's the 20 year old floppy cable. I bought one from MasterGR on here and I certainly hope that is. I'll keep you posted and thanks

From your explanation, it certainly sounds like the Gotek is flashed correctly and should be functioning.
