I was quite surprised to learn that GVP still have price lists for Amiga hardware: http://www.gvp-m.com/pricejapan.html -- They're even selling 64-pin SIMMs. Pretty cool, huh? :)

UPDATE: Ok, maybe not: "This website was last updated 13th October 2003"

Never mind, eh?

Don't look at the date. Indeed, GVP provided us with new accelerators and SIMMs for them this year.

They did? Are there still any available? Is there an up-to-date website?

Fail!

"These products probably will be not delivered to Europe because it is a remake of old developments which do not square with the RoHS-directive."

Still, thanks for the link, friend.

Why fail! You can order from Joe (SoftHut) without a problem.

Softhut in the US are their main (only?) distirbutor. You can buy "new" GVP stuff there. This is mostly old stock though, which did not pass quality control, or was not finished fully and have now been refurbed/finished. Heard horror stories of A1200 030 cards being sold clocked at 40Mhz while the onboard CPU was only 16Mhz. Go figure, that was not a very stable card.

It's specifically Amiga hardware that seems to carry obscene price tags (This is one of the reasons Amibay exists, to get away from that nonsense)

If you just want a 68060, you can get them on eBay for a fraction of that.

Here's a linky for a 50MHz 68080 (Buy it now for $39.95)

The hard bit is attaching it to your Amiga.

There are (new?) GVP SIMMs for sale, but the prices are insane, in my opinion.
If I sell my GVP 030 card, which has no memory, and add the price of two 16MB GVP SIMMs, I can buy a better/faster accelerator card which supports regular 72-pin SIMMs and up to 128MB memory.

Its probably what I'll do eventually, I lost hope of finding GVP SIMMs at sane prices.
