Can someone far cleverer than me help with an issue I have with a green tint on some of my consoles with proper RGB SCART cables? I have a CRT Sony 21" CRT TV and I note that with some cables and some consoles I get a green tint, for example on my PS2 with a CSYNC cable from retro gaming cables (not cheap!) this is happening. It did not happen on my old smaller CRT. Can someone please advise how to fix this? DO i need a different cable?

It is not the cable , but the green drive on the CRT . If you have no experience with this kind of thing , then I would recommend getting it done by somebody who knows what they are doing ! Very dangerous voltages in a CRT !!

this is where i get confused,is it some, as in some of the cables and some are fine,or is it with all the cables in this crt tv

plus,just put up some pictures

if it is the crt, then its the green drive, for instance, just check if white is white,,black is black

i had an idea

you could try another input, like composite,if its the tv,itll likly do it on all inputs , if its the green drive

Thanks for the replys, I don't think it is the TV as some cables work fine with no issues, seems ones from retro compuiter shack seem to work better than ones from Retro Gaming Cables. I don't really understand what all the differewnt sync methods mean, some say luma, some csync some kitchen sink, I have no idea what any of it means! lol. Very odd issue. the vast majority of my cables are fine, just a few that misbehave. The TV is a Sony Trinitron 21" CRT KV-21LS30U

ok,here are my thoughts,i cant see it being a sync issue,so lets ignore that,it doesnt really have anything to do with the rgb
correct me if im wrong, basically if you see a picture then it works
the colour info is down the rgb lines, not the sync, thats the whole point of rgb and sync

its going to be a bit of mystery then
so basically try the ones that has issues on something else, logically see if the problem follows the cables, some cables need coupling with capacitors on the rgb lines some dont
connection problem ? who knows

I didn't have the issue using the same cables when I was using a smaller Sony CRT (the one you fixed recently Roy) so you are right the mystery thickens! To be honest I am not that bothered, I have all my consoles working using different cables now apart from my PS2, but I have a different cable coming the the post soon). So whilst it is a mystery it's not stopping me from playing games, I was just curious really.

the reason why most would think its the drive,is becuase crt's electron guns age with time, and youll find one or more colours will be different/stronger as the other two weaken so its a common suggestion that its the drive, and you will see a tint in one colour it can subtle or really obvious,it could be green red or blue as the prominant colour on screen, most noticeable on black backgrounds for me,or on white where all the guns fire at the same time and same strengh or supposed to
the thing that threw me off,was the cables as some are fine and some not so much

its also common ish,on older tv's and monitors for that to happen

Just a quick follow-up, the new PS2 cable from RGC came today, it's a sync on Luma (what ever the heck that may mean) and it works perfectly with no tint at all. The other cable also from RGC is a csync cable (sync on composite is that?) and shows a purple tint. Links to the cables below.

Roy, I know you said that it's nothing to do with the sync method but surely it has to be... doesn't it?
