Hello!
I am finally living in a home large enough to work on my PC collection, only to find that my parents pitched most of my 386/486/Pentium-era equipment. D'oh.
So after poking around VOGONS a bit, I read a couple threads where people mentioned Amibay, so here I am.
I grew up transitioning from an Atari 2600 to a TRS-80 to a Laser 128EX to a Tandy 1000 TL/2. Spent a summer laying down a brick driveway in exchange for a 386 so I could play Doom (with the screen shrunk as small as it would go). Then got a Packard Bell Pack-Mate 850 (which I've found there is almost no record of online - presume a remodeled version for Canada). PB was a 486/50 but got the Overdrive for it. Woo! Got a faster 486, then a Pentium 100, then eventually a P3-1000, a couple Pentium 4s, including a 17" gaming laptop from the now-defunct Hypersonic. Built a Core i7 gaming computer, then eventually bought an Alienware M-51 PC, then an Alienware 15 laptop, and then my current Alienware 17 laptop.
I still own the Atari, Laser, Tandy, and Packard Bell, but the missing 486 and Pentium leave me chuffed. So here I am, nosing around for some hardware to rebuild my childhood PC(s). (Probably only PC - room or not, my wife will kill me if I start collecting.)
So yeah... pleasure to meet you all!
