Hi all,
Well, my first real computer in the eighties (after a pong type of machine which I have never been able to find the name of as I don't even have a photo of it) was Commodore 64 (breadbin). I guess it was a bit late as a friend of mine already had C128. Anyway, I have fond memories of the games and SIDs.
Later it was sold and I upgraded to Amiga 500. It never left me a big impression and eventually I moved on to PC (486). After all it was all about games back then.
When the C64 emulation boom hit in the nineties I got C64C and was soon transferring D64s to floppies etc.
Then about ten years ago I kind of accidentally acquired an Amiga 500. I didn't know if it worked so I had to buy another working A500 to get a PSU (I didn't want to take chance buying only a PSU).
I don't even remember why, but just last year I got back into retro computing and started with acquiring an SD2SID for C64, but eventually I really got fond of the Amiga... I did have GEOS in the 80's for C64, but Amiga with Workbench and a proper Shell and all really felt like a "proper" computer with what I'd enjoy spending some time with.
Currently I have an A500++ project. Why only an A500; It's the one I used to have so only it has "meaning to me"
And it is absolutely beautiful piece of hardware.
I got the courage to do an A500++ from recapping and replacing KS socket for my main Amiga.
Soldering is very interesting for me so it's going to be an amazing experience to build my own Amiga 500 (and finally getting 2 MB Chip RAM! My Rev6 is 1 MB modded, but it doesn't seem to be enough for WHDLoad... I want my Amiga be "perfect").
I decided to finally register here as I eventually plan to downsize my Commodore collection in the future and also because of being interested in some items in the "For Sale" area.
Thanks for reading this and I hope you found this an interesting read.
PS. I actually made the profile pic with Deluxe Paint II back in the day!
