I’m mlnmln from Hamburg, Germany. My first computer was an Amiga 1200 “desktop dynamite” at around ’94 which I have fond memories of. I switched to PCs around 1998 and to Mac at about 2004. I still use a Mac professionally each day.
I recently brought my Amiga 1200 back from the basement to the living room. It has a 120mb 2,5” internal hard drive, but otherwise is pretty stock. Condition is good as far as I can tell. I already did some research (that’s how I ended up here
) and I’m contemplating to do a couple of upgrades to my A1200:
I know how to open a chassis and how to install hardware, but I won’t do any soldering myself.
Looking forward to meeting you!

- Recap the capacitors of my motherboard
- Install a compact flash card as HDD replacement
- Get a DVI/HDMI flicker fixer so I can connect it to a modern HD TV (currently using a composite to HDMI adapter which produces less than optimal results)
- Maybe install WHDLoad and get a necessary RAM upgrade / Turbocard
- Ultimately be able to run Lightwave and do realtime low-polygon 3D modelling

I know how to open a chassis and how to install hardware, but I won’t do any soldering myself.
Looking forward to meeting you!
