Always been interested in the Commodore series, so I thought I would grab an Amiga!

Just got myself an Amiga 500, and ordered the 3.1.4 Kickstart ROM to upgrade the 1.3 ones on the board.

This is going to be an expensive hobby, isn't it?

Welcome neighbor,

Take it from me, run now, run away, run quickly! You will spend too much money and make an stable machine unstable... LOL.

This hobby reminds me of car guys, they take a perfectly good car and tweak it slightly, after a while in the pursuit of speed the car barely runs and is very high strung. Similar in some regards to computing.

I have spend over 40 years in the Commodore and Amiga world. The Amiga in particular has so many options that can run up the price, well I'm still married so I must be doing something right.

If you want to keep it cheap, stay on the 500, buy a few items to make it better (compact flash for example) and enjoy, that will keep the cost down.

If you try really expanding the 500 or pick up a big box Amiga like a 3000, money will simply disappear in front of you...

Welcome!

Matt
