This is GVP's 3001 A3001 accelerator for the Amiga 2000.
Serial number of accelerator is: 001216
Serial number of RAM8 is: 000988
It's GVPs first 030 accelerator and it uses a piggyback RAM board called RAM8 to add up to 8MB Fast RAM to the Zorro II 24-bit address space. The RAM has good performance for the era, beating the A3000/25 even with static column FAST RAM.
This board is complete with a 25MHz 68030 with MMU and 25Mhz 68882.
This board also includes the RAM8 board. The RAM board has 8MB in 8 1MB Motorola-brand nibble mode SIMMS.
Some notes:
The Impact 3001 is said to be somewhat unstable in 3.1+ systems. It's best suited for kickstart 1.3 or 2.0x systems.
The CPU cannot be upgraded as the PALs contain wait state optimization based on the shipped processor/RAM combo.
If you have any installed Zorro cards you may need to move the J5 jumper to "closed" on the RAM board to limit the card to just 4MB of FAST RAM instead of 8MB to allow the other cards to function properly in the ZII memory space.
The board has an on-board IDE controller that was made before the modern IDE standard was finalized so does not work with modern IDE drives/CF cards/etc.
The board allows you to keep your 68000 installed on the A2000's motherboard as a compatibility fallback, but 68000 mode must be switched with a jumper on the GVP card. As a bonus, I'm throwing in a homemade control panel that can be mounted (using glue/tape/etc.) into a the left 3.5" drive bay and give an aesthetically nice way to switch the card between 68030 and 68000 by hiding the toggle switch behind a little door.
Doc is included. No original packaging. Disks are copies.
