I came across this GVP Impact Vision 24 recently. It is Rev 4.0 with what looks like IV24 V.3.0 ROM (1991).

Does anyone use the early revision IV24 on their setup? Specifically on an Amiga 4000 (but not the Rev 8 that's for the 4000)? I read that Rev 5.0 with ImpactVision 3.1 ROMs maybe an issue, but that's only for that combination, right? 4.0 and 3.0 ROMS should be OK? Also, I read that on Amiga 4000, anything but Rev 8 of this card will only do 15kHz modes for flicker fixing - which should be plenty sufficient even on the 4000, right?

The card I have has a PAL sticker on the back, but there is a pin switch below some crystals on this board that selects PAL or NTSC. Are these boards capable of both with just this switch? Could I rig up a twin 3-pin switch for example to switch the 4000 motherboard and this board between PAL and NTSC before powering up?

Finally...feedback on the card? Is the card a good flicker fixer on the 4000? Have you used it for any capture? Are you enjoying it? Does it remove the need for a RTG card overall or a flicker fixer? Any tips, clues, position? In the 4000 with the video slot in line, no need to use that 2000 video slot accessory card obviously, right?

Oh, one more thing...is this basically a fancier and slightly more capable version of the DCTV type of a product, but in this case IV24 also has the flicker fixer?

Thanks!

Found an Amiga World review, October 1992 issue. $2199 price listed! :)

This thing seems to be a bit more Toaster-ish, if you will. Few more weeks, hopefully I'll get this running.

Found a video of a 4000 with clearly not a Rev 8 card in it working like a charm. However, video res is not good enough to tell what ROMs are in it, not what Rev it is.

Now that the 4000 is running with the GVP Impact Vision 24 card inside, I can report that the card works perfectly just plugged in as a lovely flicker fixer. Reading spec of flicker fixer function it seems this version is limited to 12bit.

If someone has the manual, I would appreciate knowing the 3 mode switch positions. Looks like Enable, ByPass and perhaps Auto/Software selectable - but I'm not sure.

I have not yet installed the EGS drivers to test the 24bit capability of this card, but that is to come. It seems it has capability in this area, but it is not well documented out there. I wonder if it means 24bit screen modes and workbench modes...hopefully!

The switch at the back is for the genlock function. However, the switch also appears to be engaging the flicker fixer and significantly improves the Amiga screens. Guess I have to play with the genlock functionality of this board eventually. Here is what is noted about the switch at the back on a hardware site:
  • genlock:
    • separate composite and component (RGB + sync) genlocks
    • three genlock modes - controlled by a switch on the back of the board:
      • Amiga graphics only
      • keyed source - allows external video to show through the background
      • full external - direct feed of the RGB signal so it can be seen what the camera is pointing at or the live video to show through every colour but the background

Hello ! Yes, yes, it's me :D, I have the Amiga 4000 saved but it's because I'm making room, what I do have and I'm going to look for is a screenshot of the manual (I don't have it, I just got that screenshot) of the switch
