Has anyone mounted an LCD in one of the new Amiga 1200 cases above the logo?

As titled - i noticed the new 1200 cases have a space for what looks to be a 16x2 LCD above the Amiga logo, which i think is what the lotharek floppy emulator uses - has anyone actually mounted a screen there, or used that space for an OLED? Does it need cutting out or is a screen visible through it (on the translucent versions e.g. asahi), the plastic appears to be thinner in the center section where the actual screen is

Just wondering how you achieved it and how it looks, i have looked around and couldnt find anyone that was utilising that for mounting a screen, or much information beyond its existence!

Also happy to hear why not to use it :D

I did put a Gotek display there, in a translucent case. It was not necessary to cut any holes because although not perfectly transparent the text was still clearly visible. This will depend on the size and brightness of OLED of course but I did not pay any fancy price, just bought whatever was on the store at the time. Not a 16x2 LCD, which I think would be hard to see, but an OLED...

Looks great with that color scheme. Which keyboard/ keycaps are they, @Aeberbach ?

That's one of my keyboards. The keycaps came from Signature Plastics, a couple of years before steveed put in all the effort to get them to package a proper Amiga kit; I ordered about 36 custom size & legends in DSA profile and added them to the "ice" set that was available at the time. It must have cost around US$200 to put that together!

So little update on this, I tried with a couple of different 16x2 LCD modules, and through the case it was very hard to read when the characters were static and impossible to read when they were moving -

So next I sourced a 2.23" OLED with roughly the same screen dimensions as a 16x2 module, but the mounting was quite different, so I filed off the inside of the bottom mounting pegs inside the case, aligned the screen and then hot glued it in place, hopefully that will hold!

End result in the attached image!

@fraser - THAT IS SICK! Which OLED is that exactly?

...I wonder if this OLED light will punch through the black case as well.

I got it from eBay - this is the listing:

I had to use this in flashfloppy ff.cfg for it to work correctly:

-ztech: ZHONGJY_TECH 2.23" 128x32 SSD1305 OLED display
Must be explicitly configured as cannot be automatically detected

Well done!
I didn't want to butcher those cases myself, either for the LCD or the USB port s, as they are not precut. This is an elegant and clever solution.
I also have this case but had to buy it from Australia, the only place in the world where they are available right now.

Which case is that? The translucent dark red?
