Hey everyone!

I figured it's been so long since I've been on AmiBay that I should re-introduce myself!

I'm a former AmiBay moderator, who took a big turn into retro and modern gaming for quite a while. I still have a passion for my retro computers, and I'm working on setting up my computer room in the house I moved into about a year ago.

One thing I've been doing during my absence is continuing to improve on my soldering skills and board repairs. Way back in 2009, I created a thread asking for "Proper Soldering Help". With the help of the community, and lots of practice I've gotten very good with an iron. Still need to work on hot air reword though. ;)

I've been working on the biggest project I've ever attempted. An Acill Amiga 4000D motherboard. I sourced all the components, and have assembled it by hand with my inexpensive YiHua soldering station. I need to transplant the parts from the original (and dead) A4000D motherboard, then it will be ready to go!

I look forward to getting to know all the faces of AmiBay again, both old and new.

Heather

Welcome back again Heather! Very glad to see you are back, that Acill board is already looking good!

There's been a lot of changes here at Amibay, for the better :)

Welcome back :check:

Thanks, everyone! It's great to be back! :D

I hope to finish up my ACILL board this coming weekend. I have been working on removing all the custom chips from the old board, and should finish that up during the week. That old solder can be difficult to remove.

I look forward to chatting with everyone in the threads.

Woah.. never thought to see you around again! What a pleasant surprise! :D

As for the boards - DiagROM is your biggest friend.. And also, the customs needs to be cleaned up REAL well (of solder, also on the bottom of the J-leads) else they'll easily damage (or at least NC) on those PLCC sockets leading to all kinds of weird errors.
