Hello Amibayers!

I have the Spectrum and Amiga to thank for getting me into the video game industry, which has given me a decent living for the last 15 years. My endeavours on the Amiga made me no money, but gave me a lot of experience and fun. The output of my year of 680XX/AGA coding fun can be seen here.

I recently dusted off my trusty old computers for some retro computing fun with my boy (now eight) with mixed results (Sinclair: 1, Commodore: nill)

So, It looks like I’m currently the proud owner of a working ZX Spectrum (with external keyboard, and 5 1/4 inch disk drive), an Amiga 500 with (hopefully just) a broken power supply, and my old pride and joy, an Amiga 4000 with leaked battery and grey screen at bootup :(

I'd love to get the A4000 restored to its former glory, and set up in the boy’s bedroom. Maybe he’ll be inspired – or maybe he’ll just demand a Wii like all his friends...

Steve

Hello and Welcome :) hopefully you can get your A4000 up and running

Hi,

Welcome!

Put some pictures of your A4000's motherboard up in our AmiOracle section and I am sure that we will get it back up and running.

The knowledge and abilities of our members in repairing hardware never ceases to amaze me.

Thanks for the warm welcome people.

Having looked round the forums a bit, I too am amazed at the expertise and enthusiasm. I'm taking the easy route though and sending the motherboard off to Hikey for a referb - He seems to know what he is doing :) I'll take a few pics for a "before and after"...

Welcome!

I'm pretty new here myself, but already I feel welcome here and confident that the true Amiga spirit flourishes here.
I recently cleaned up and restored a couple of Amigas myself, and after this operation, holding the guts of the old machines in my hands, I realized how special these machines really are. I would never care this much about a PC :)

I hope your Amigas will soon once again power up and perform as they did before. Remember to post pics and stories so we can hopefully celebrate their resurrection.
