Hey, I joined today bc I'm a Retro-PC fan for quite a while now and want to be part of this great community. I have some experience with repairing PCs, troubleshooting and know a thing or two about some special limitations, annoyances and quirks of some chip-sets and parts.
I'm 37 now and a student in my local municipal administration - life and career changes and so on; long story^^ That is the reason I won't have too much time, to be on this forum, but I'll try,
I've been fascinated with PC building and tinkering since I was a kid, but I have been a huge dilettante and relied on dangerous half-knowledge a lot, but I've learned a lot, too. Less reading, more testing and experimenting. Now I'm more like "where's the documentation?" and spend a lot of time reading and watching videos before getting to try anything -.-'
I've had my share of frustration but also a lot of fun, restoring PCs and getting them up and running again.
I like underdogs like SiS-Chipsets, Kyro-Graphics cards and ESS-Sound cards, but I like the more reasonably priced (xD) 3dfx-cards, too. I'd really like to have an Aopen AX6BC Gold and a Voodoo 5 5500 AGP once I can afford them :-D
I really look forward to chatting with you people and maybe trade or sell/buy some interesting stuff
