Hello I'm new.
I've known about Amibay for years, but never really had a reason to sign up. Never been a huge buyer, and I'm not a collector as such either.
But I do have a big passion for the Amstrad CPC computers, because I grew up with a CPC464, and therefor I have a few CPC's, including a modded CPC464+ that I acquired recently.
I was lucky to find myself a girlfriend who's just about as geeky as me, and since she grew up with the C64, we also have a couple of those.... and a few Amigas, and a Phillips G7000... and some Game & Watch stuff... ok, we may have quite a bit. But I still don't consider myself a collector, since I'm only interested in stuff I have some kind of relation with. Meaning stuff I remember in some form from my childhood.
...at least that's how it's been so far.
Let's see what happens now that I've signed up here at Amibay.
When I say that I'm not a collector, I also mean that I don't collect just to collect. We meet at least once a year with our mates, each of us bringing at least one retro computer or gaming console, and then we just sit and play the good old games. In other words, whatever machine I buy, I buy to use them rather than putting them on display. Last time we met was actually 4 days ago, and it was really great and cozy. See picture:
This means for example, that I'd rather get a ZX Spectrum with an issue 6 motherboard than an issue 1, because the issue 1 gets warm fast. (But that's about as much knowledge I have about such things).
I'm definitely not a hardware guy. Whenever I need a machine expanded or modded, I always turn to mates for help.
When it comes to buying I am quite picky. I don't want yellowing or machines that smell of smoke. I'm only interested in clean refurbished fixed machines, and I'm not afraid to pay the price. (This is why my first question will probably always be: "Does it smell of smoke?" or "Does it come from a non-smoker home?". Sorry in advance for that).
I've created music in my sparetime since my Amstrad CPC. See two CPC music-disks I did not long ago:

Old Amiga mods of mine can be found at www.dewfall.dk on my old not-updated site.
The girlfriend and I also occasionally make small cellphone games. Recently we completed our 4th game project, which you can read about at www.PirateDiamonds.com
Our 3rd game-project is at www.UkkosJourney.com - retro style side scrolling game.
We make absolutely no money whatsoever on any of those projects though, which is why I have decided to focus on the music part from now on.
I run IndieGameMusic.com in my sparetime. A site where musicians can offer their tracks (various filetypes) to indie game developers. (So if you're developing a game for (almost) whatever platform, that's where to go
)
I mostly hang out at the cpcwiki.eu forum, because the CPC is and will always be "my" machine. Lots of dear memories, old and new. Doesn't get any better than that.
Right, I guess that's it.
See ya around.
