I'm a fairly casual Amiga fan (sticking to entry level models like the 500/600/1200) and only recently was able to get into the hobby. As a kid, I was always amazed by the Amiga screenshots on the back of pc game boxes (especially during the heyday of CGA and Tandy 16 Color), but it wasn't remotely feasible for me to ever actually own one. I fondly remember my trips to Software Etc and seeing the games run in person, then later being exposed to the mod/s3m/xm scene in the early-mid 90s on PC.
When I moved to Europe a few years ago, one of my first objectives was to realize my dream of owning an Amiga. Now I have a fairly sizeable collection of original software and a growing collection of hardware and it's just an absolute joy to play with. I don't think I'll ever do anything "serious" on the hardware, but I'm excited to continue to support new software development and explore it's vast catalog
