I'm a new member here and an Amiga user since 1989. I started with an A500. Later in the 90's I wanted do buy an A4000 or A4000T, but since it was not available anymore when Commodore went bankrupt, I decided to take an A1200 instead. Since then my mission was to upgrade it and make it as powerful as an A4000. So, I had my A1200 built into a Mikronik Infinitif tower with Z2 expansion board, A1230 IV 030 turbo card, 64 MB, SCSI-Kit, CD-Rom etc. It is fun to remember that even the inventors of the modular tower-kit at Mikronik in Leverkusen back then took hours to assemble everything until I could take it back home.
Basically, I like the design of my Infinif tower, but I wish that my "plastic bomber" :) with many snap-in-bays and plastic cages was easier to upgrade
internally without nasty bending and creaking case parts. A few vertical brass bolts are already bent and have broken off threads. Still, I think about upgradiing my A1200 with a Vampire turbo card, but I cannot upgrade the kickstart ROMs, because they are covered by the Z2 expansion board and I dare not to disassemble my entire creaking plastic tower. Furthermore, with a Vampire card instead of Blizzard 1230IV, I would lose its attached SCSI-Kit for CD-ROM, CD-Writer, Scanner, etc. and would require a new Z2 SCSI Controller additonally. Perhaps getting another A1200 already equipped with Vampire card and Squirrel PCMCIA SCSI card and external CD-ROM will be the solution in the near future in order to enjoy an even faster Amiga. Time will tell.
