Hello from Kansas City! Growing up in the mid-late 80s, my dad developed business software for the Atari ST and Macintosh, so we had cooler computers at home than most of my friends. As an early teen, we went to the local pawn shop and came away with a TRS-80 Model 16B and a box of 8” floppy disks. I spent the next summer writing a fake AI-like program in Basic that tried to be your friend. Then moved on to building IBM PCs for fun and profit.
As an Atari person, I never realized the Amiga vs Atari drama because my friends had neither and most Atari publications I read didn’t go there! It seems now that I’m old(er), I see people saying you have to like one or the other - but I believe that one can appreciate the differences of both platforms!
I consider myself a hobbyist/collector now and a purist that prefers the older hardware over the emulation and FPGA offerings available today.
Thank you!
