Hi there!
I am the author of reSID, which in some shape or form is the basis of many, if not most, emulations of the SID chip originally found in the Commodore 64. I made major improvements to SID emulation back in 2010 / 2011 within VICE - others have been making further improvements since then, but I like to think that the sound from 2011 is still state of the art
I have fond memories from the heyday of the Commodore 64, and keep getting back to the machine and the SID chip in particular.
Lately I have been dabbling with designing open source hardware for SID emulation: https://github.com/daglem/reDIP-SID
I am here now since I am interested in buying hardware to collect, use, and experiment with.
Best regards
Dag Lem
