Hi all! Occasional lurker who has made an account as I may be in need of some bits soon and this seems like the place to be.
I had several Amigas in the early-mid 90s but unfortunately don't have my originals any more. A recent gift of a CDTV has rekindled the interest (It never went away, it was just dormant!)
My collection:
CDTV and remote, it will be receiving some upgrades. What a lovely machine it is.
A standard A600, another gift. Doesn't have a PSU yet.
An A2000. Has the most interesting story. Probably over a decade ago, a friend was off on his travels and asked if I wanted an old computer before it went in a skip. I said no as I didn't have the room, but when he revealed it was an Amiga with a monitor I had to save it. It had been dumped in the cellar and forgotten about for I'd guess 20 years or so.
Imagine my delight when he dropped off an absolutely filthy but still beautiful A2000 with the original keyboard (for which I'd like to acquire an adaptor to use it with the CDTV) and a 1084S. It got a bit of a clean and a new clock battery but I haven't done much with it since. A project for this summer I think, it needs stripping down fully for a deep clean. It does work, but needs some TLC and some contact cleaner in the trim pots on the 1084.
It got better, when I opened it up to change the clock battery (it had started to leak but thankfully hadn't destroyed the mobo) I discovered some expansions and a hard drive inside:
An A2088 bridgeboard, which explained the 5.25" floppy drive.
A WD XT/GEN Hard Disk Controller (I think this is a PC PCI card).
And attached to it a WD 362 21MB Hard drive. Thing's huge, I think it's a Winchester. Twenty one megabytes. I'll never fill that.
Once I've got it all cleaned perhaps I'll be able to get some advice and maybe the driver disks to get it all running properly, as none came with it. In any case it's a pleasure to have saved it from an undignified end in a landfill or something. Doesn't bear thinking about.
Have a great Sunday!
