Hello All,
My name is Stevan, and am a LONG time Amiga enthusiast. I hate to admit, but it was discovering a computer game (Adventure, circa. 1980) in college that led to my career in computer programming (although I became a programmer on mainframe computers). Other hobbies have come and gone, but computer gaming is the only one that has lasted to this day (I particularly favor RPGs and adventures).
I was recently inspired by some YouTube videos by someone known as Spooney, who had reviewed all of the Ultima games. Since my wife is always telling me to "watch my spending", I brought my Amiga 500 down from the attic, where it had been stored since 1994. And remember, I live in a desert where the temperatures in the attic often exceed 135F/57C. Unbelievably, my Amiga powered up immediately, although I did have to blow out and re-seat the chips to get all of the peripherals working. I would love to see a PC or Apple boot up after 18 years!
Anyway, I've discovered, purchased, and installed Amiga Forever and C64 Forever on my PC (amazing products!) but there is something special about playing games on my old A500, including the small video and tinny audio on my 1084S monitor. Which is what led me to joining Amibay - I want to upgrade some components (granted, I'm limited in what I can do), so I'll be keeping an eye on the For Sale forum and posting on the Wanted forum (while my wife isn't looking, of course
).
