My Amiga line up consists of the following:
  • My first Amiga, The Amiga 500 with the 512MB expansion + External Supra Drive (52MB hard drive I think)
  • Amiga 1000 (Given to me well over 20 years ago. Never tried to power it on)
  • My pride and joy, An Amiga 4000T 040 CPU, 16MB RAM, Village Tronic Picasso II card, PAR card, two internal SCSI hard drives.
Wanting to get back to my favorite computer of all times, I just recently pulled my 4000T from the closet, where is has been for 20-24 years, powered it up and ... no video, it did not even try to access the floppy drive...So sad and disappointed.
Told my wife it was not powering up and she said “Throw it away” … Well we are now divorced! (just kidding). She obviously does not under stand the relationship one has with an Amiga.

After bit of troubleshooting which included pulling the PAR card & Picasso card and connecting the on board video out to my Commodore 2002 monitor I found the main SCSI boot drive was not allowing the system to boot. Disconnected the drive and there was the wonderful animated insert disk screen! Joy!
To shorten my rambling about reviving my 4000T … I added a Gotek floppy emulator and a ZuluSCSI CompactSCSI emulator. She now boots and operates fine.
Found some leaking caps and a bit of corrosion so before reinstalling the Picasso card I am planning to perform a recap myself … Wish me luck!
I have the caps on order, and hope to have my fully working system soon. After that I will to see about RAM expansion and maybe get her online.
