Hi all - I joined a little while ago but as requested am making the introductory post.
I am old enough that my first experience with computers was via a modem dial up from school to a mainframe somewhere.. and all input/output was via a teletyper, but I was hooked.
So my first computer was a Sinclair ZX81
My first pay packet an my new job in 1984 was a Sinclair spectrum.. I had a choice of £149 for a 16kb version or £199 for 48k version. I thought "48k is a waste - no-one will EVER make a game that needs 48k".. but bought the 48k version anyway!! :roll:
Then I went to an Atari ST (don't judge me!!) and remember the ST/Amiga format magazine which did reviews and the amiga game always got 1% higher score.. with a comment something like "Game graphics exactly the same but Amiga gets extra as sound is better"... and I thought "sound on my ST is fine... what they on about??!!
Then a friend got an amiga and I went round to check it out.. I traded in my ST the next dat for an Amiga 500.
Then traded that in for an Amiga 1500 which had a MASSIVE 52MB hard drive, awesome!!!
I loved my Amiga, but things moved on...
But I been having nostalgia pangs.. so I am back.. I got my old 1500 out the attic.. HD is dead.. and battery has leaked - but it works.. and am looking to get a HDD replacement.
So also bought an A1200 and am pimping it out a bit..
Anyway - that's enough.. bored you all enough..
