Help! A3000 + PCI Question

I have been negotiating to buy an A3000 desktop with the intent of adding PCI only to realize that the Mediator 3000D is only for A3000 desktop machines that have been towerized.

Are 3000 desktop owners left high and dry? Or is there another solution out there? I really want to put together a desktop Amiga w/PCI but it's starting to look more and more like the 4000 desktop is the only option.

Your only real option is the Prometheus PCI and to try and shoehorn it all in there. I had a rant about this the other day, a Mediator 3000Di would be a wonderful piece of kit, if only they made it!

I was actually thinking that was the only possible "reasonable" option. I shudder at the idea of making that work; Even with those PCI extension cables from eBay China, it would be a mess.

If I already had an A3000 desktop I might consider getting a spare factory-style busboard, hacking off the ISAs (if even possible), finding a short PCI only busboard from something else, and trying an A4000 PCI bridgeboard, but that's a lot of work. Such hackery have the advantage of possibly mixing ISA, PCI, and Zorro in one machine...

I just hope finding a nice A4000 desktop state-side (USA) and a mediator 4000Di isn't going to be like trying to find a unicorn sandwich vendor.

Indeed. I saw something about that recently. That's the best news my A3000 has received since it got its A3640 and SIMM adapter!
