I'm trying to identify the following XBOX modchip...

P1020171.jpg

Bios on this chip is a listed as "EvoX M7 Eject Fix" which is apparently no good for a large hard drive (1Tb), which is my end goal.

The box currently has a 120Gb drive and works perfectly.

I've attempted to flash the M8 bios from Slayer's and HeXEn, both fail, possibly this chip isn't flashable?

Possibly nothing to do with this but I'm wondering what the gray wire would be for?

What does the long rectangle chip at the top have written on it?
it looks like a tsop chip which if it's a winbond you'll need to use other software to flash it.
See if you can find Hacky's bios rehash disc, it has a large choice of bios' on and also tools for flashing winbond chips

I think it is a winbond chip, when flashing in Slayer's it identifies the chip as this and then starts to erase but never moves on.

Will open the box back up and see exactly whats written on that top chip.

If evox identifies it as winbond it doesn't have the ability to erase it. If you can find the Hacky's bios rehash ISO that has winbond tools on it. If not I'll pm you when I get back home and send you a link with some instructions to try.

hi mate. it shouldnt boot to the tsop as you have a mod chip on there. if it does boot to the tsop then the mod chip is not enabled. to flash the mod chip if it is a winbond "i dont think it is looks more like a hyundai" you need to use the correct sized bios as gentoox "which you would usually use" will not expand the bios to populate the whole chip. which would leave the mod chip pretty much useless..
Also the md chip may not be flashable though so what
you could do is soft mod the console via hexen. then dissconnect the d0 from the mod chip solder the tsop point and flash the st chip easy enough if you do get issues..

p.s

hexen can flash winbonds you just select the winbond flash option. it will also only present you with useable bioses.

Still having no luck, Hacky's bios rehash disc fails as well.

@ShambleS1980, I'm not sure what 'it shouldnt boot to the tsop' means!

sorry what i mean to say is..

your mod chip looks a lot like an old xecuter xs chip. I dont think you can flash it. if you can it wont be that straight forward.

your best bet is to soft mod the console.
then solder up the tsop points.
cut the red wirre on the chip
boot to hexen
and then use the flash tools.

Drat, looks like I'm not going anywhere with this.

Could the chip just be removed and the a soft mod applied?

softmod it 1st mate.
then just cut the red wire
if your using a larger hard disk put that in 1st then soft mod it then cut the red wire.

after its soft modded run hexen go to the applications in there and run xbpartitioner
