Hi

I have brought down my old 1081 monitor to put it to some use on ..an Apple. Anyway, it's got a broken power switch at the front and is presently jammed 'on' with a bit of spare plastic, which looks naff.

Searching around I see this broken switch is a common complaint !

so

a please does anyone know a source and part number of a replacement switch and is is starightforward to swap?

b if easiest /best to solder up the switch so the monitor is always 'on', can anyone please say solder x to y, avoid z, and so on?

TIA!

Iain :)

The switch is basically the same as an old AT power supply switch, i.e. dual pole - dual terminal, latching on/off.

It switches the live and negative at the same time via the two separate poles of the switch.

Before you take out the old switch, remember to mark what colour wire connects to which pole.

I'd also suggest that you buzz out both switches with a multimeter, so you are actually sure which poles connect which wires together.
