Hello everyone,
Let me introduce myself. I am Erwin from Holland and proud longtime owner of a genuine NTSC Amiga 1000 and matching A1080 monitor. I imported these from the USA as an early adopter for a whopping 3900 Dutch guilders back in 1985, after having spent 3 very active years on the C64 (which I also still have, btw). After having not touched the A1000 for over 30 years, I suddenly got infected with the dreaded "Amiga retro virus", back in January. Being an electronics enthusiast, I became fascinated by the beautiful design of the GBA1000. Thank you very much, Georg Braun, for an awesome hardware project! Of course I couldn't resist getting the blank PCB and taking on the challenge of building my own GBA1000. I spent about 3 months sourcing the necessary components from numerous (mostly Chinese) vendors on eBay. The Commodore chips, video hybrids and D-connectors were scavenged from two A500+ mainboards.
Apparently miracles do happen... After soldering things together over a period of 4 days, the board worked right from the start! In the meantime I had scored another A1000 into which the GBA1000 will soon be installed. The board is running Kickstart and Workbench 3.1.4.
I hope to get in touch with fellow GBA1000 owners on here as I still have several questions!
