Hi guys!

I'm Japster, from the UK - West Midlands area. I love all things retro, and as a result, I've collected so much of it over the years I even had to build a home/retro chill shrine for it!

But I've finally realised I have far, FAR too much :nuts:, so I'm keeping one of each of my retro weapons of choice, and as I'm sick of Eb*y's fees, limitations, rules, stipulations, and what I perceive to be under-handed practices (fellow user's who've sold on there will probably know of all these), so I opened up a 'store' a few months back, to see if I can make it work, repay some bills and debts, and recoup some of the 10's of £1,000's of pounds I've spent collecting it all over the last 2 decades.

<snip>

As such, and bearing in mind I've spent a LOT on my obsession/hobby, one thing I can't be doing is selling at crazy low prices - I (like most other people here) do not have an all-encompassing guide as to the retro market's games values, so have listed based on other sellers prices, and my own idea of some titles' market value - most items I feel are a fair price, some are definitely too cheap, and some might be higher than most people want to pay for them...

Basically, I've compared my prices with a couple of the established sites, and tried to gauge/reduce most of those prices if I felt theirs were too high...

I'll pop a dedicated thread on the For Sale/Wanted if it doesn't contravene the rules (couldn't see anything in there, but I'm new, so definitely makes sense for me to look *carefully*!) :readit:

Thanks guys! :D

Den.

Part of the rules you agreed to on joining AmiBay state the following
Selling on multiple sites:
You are welcome to list your items for sale elsewhere at the same time as you post on AmiBay. However you must state in your thread that the item is 'available elsewhere'.

You are welcome to post links to your sales on other sites, however links to auction sites can only be for fixed price 'buy it now' items offered at the same price. Ensure that you check the rules on cross-listing on any other websites that you may also be using, as it may be against their terms and conditions to list in multiple places. If you are in any doubt please contact a member of staff for help.

As such I've had to remove your weblink as this broke the above rule.

You can only link to other sites if you are selling the same item on AmiBay.

Well, thanks for the warm welcome anyway guys!

Ahh... Sorry about that - I'm still confused though, as I linked to my site, as opposed to specific items?

ie - I figured as I was trying to advise of a site in general, and not specific items, it'd be a link to that - which is why the "Buy-it-now" clause didn't seem relevant either, as it related to an actual item/link being specifically sold on Amibay AND elsewhere? - I'd completely understand if I linked to a specific item/listing, but I was just trying to advise Amibayers of the fact that I'm out there, and have Amiga items available? :(

@Japster You can only link to other sites if you are selling the same item on AmiBay.

Not quite sure how to let the guys know about my items then, other than posting and dynamically editing/maintaining a thread listing all of my Amiga items as I list/sell them, which seems unworkable when people can just mosey on over to the site and take a look at my Amiga section!:huh:

...Perhaps I'm okay to just mention that Amibayers can google for
"theretrocavern" instead?

...or is that another <SNIP!> I hear? :o

Cheers all!

well its a matter of you can usually link to a buy it now item on ebay or similar if some one asks about one they want to buy.
you cant link to auctions.

if your selling something here you need to list a price, you cant invite bids but you can give a price and state or near offers.

if you are selling something here and have it listed some where els "as a buy it now" you can link to that here as well..

if you have a lot of amiga items for sale maybe you would need to be considered for a private trader status. rather than just general amibayer.

if you dont believe you have enough items to be considered as a private trader, then i dont see the issue with listing things individualy like the rest of us do..

Thank you :thumbsup:

@Japster

Not to be too blunt but we are not a free advertising forum for Ebay or anywhere else for that matter.

You are welcome to list items for sale on here and provide a direct link to the same item for sale elsewhere as long as it is to a BIN listing.

You could create a thread with several items on it that are linked, i.e. Amiga software, Atari hardware, etc. As other members try to.

You may also have to reconsider what status your membership of the forum should fall under.

My PM box is open if you wish to discuss it further.

Okay, fair enough guys, though I'm slightly more interested in the fact that Shambles can and does mod old xbox's! - massive respect for you keeping them alive! - I LOVE mine... ...and I have a fair few I'd possibly like doing - I envisage some PM's flying back and forth... :)

Cheers both, and hopefully no foul done!... :unsure:
