Hi everyone,
So this thread will be about the HxC Floppy Emulator. Here's the link to the webpage of the designer: http://hxc2001.free.fr/floppy_drive_emulator/.
I already own an Rev.C board for my a500 and thinking to acquire another one for my a1200. I contacted last week the person who's assembling those units and asked him if there's a possibility of a group buy - if there's any interest and an approximate number of units that would be ordered , i will call him and ask for price and delivery time. :)

Have a nice day,
diskers

UPDATE - 09.07

Prices for HxC:
Rev. C - 63,70 Euros
Rev. F - 86,50 Euros
Custom PCB color for Rev. C - 2,20 Euros (default color blue)

Postage with EMS Pocztex (it's some sort of DHL but provided by the Polish post).

For USA/Canada = about 34 Euros
For Australia = about 46,50 Euros
For all EU countries = about 32 Euros

The parcels have a tracking number and are insured up to 44 MTS (it's about 50 Euros) in case their get lost.

I don't mention DHL or UPS - horrendous prices.

Normal postage using Polish Post Office (regular postage)
Postage up to 500g - Priority - air mail - by certified mail / by recorded delivery

EU Countries including Russia and Israel - about 9,20 Euros (included package fees)
USA/Canada - about 11,20 Euros (included package fees)
Australia and Oceania - about 15,00 Euros (included package fees)

For those you who are still interested please confirm on this thread and send me also a PM with confirmation.

Thanks

I have one of these also. ITS A MUST for retro gamers. I use it on so many of my retro machines

It really depends on the price per unit and cost saving of the group buy.

I'd be interested in two Rev C units.

I could even take them without the LCD if that offered improved cost saving as I don't intend to use the LCD.

I didn't asked him right now for the price because first i didn't know if there will be any interest (as for now with me there's 4 units - so i presume he won't take too much off) and second as always the price depends on quantity - I hope so :D. But i will ask him what could be the price for example for 10, 15, 20 units and will look for the best insured and tracked postage. One for sure is that he said that we can negotiate the price.

@alexh I don't thing it's a good choice to omit the LCD screen, for sure you can control this unit by using the amiga, cpc or st managment software but it's much easier to swap disks if you can see on the display the mounted files and change them on the fly especially when you're using 2 drives emulation.

I've been going to get one of these for a long time now, put me down for 1 please

Might be interested in 1 unit - rev F most likely.

edit - can no longer afford at present, interest withdrawn

The management tool should be fine for me. For multi disk games you can AFAIK "stack" disk images on one emulated drive and cycle between them with one button press... just as if you were pressing eject on the real floppy.

I mean where are you going to put the LCD? Cut your case? No thank you.

That Rev. F looks pretty neat ... I seriously need to keep my wallet closed for a while though .. I'm like a kid in a candy store

I would be interested in 2 of these if there is a group buy. I think it is pretty cool tech.

Ok as far we have 9 HxC. I will wait untill Friday and then with the aproximative number of wanted units I will contact lotharek and ask him for prices. Then we will wait 2 weeks -I think it will be enough for people to find this thread and decide if they want one of this boards or not. After that I will make a last count of all potential boards to be ordered and I will ask for the final prices. :) What are you thinking about this plan any suggestions?

I'm also interested in one unit without LCD screen, but I checked Lotharek's store and I dont see an option to buy without.

Also its important to note, his price includes VAT. I dont know exactly which countries this is relevant for (Europe only?) but it should be taken into account, as its a whopping 23% !

That sounds fine

That's a wonderful point. I know in the past he's sold them to me without VAT since I was outside the country.

Im Interested in one (the unit that will go into a standard 3.5" bay).

As mentioned im interested in the REV F 3.5" bay mountable unit - would I be able to mount this in an external Amiga Drive Chassis* as DF:1 and have it work properly?

*Like one of these Chassis:
