What should i do first :-)

I am ordering TF330 and have ordered and RGB SCART cable as well so i can use it with my Framemeister.

Now i guess i need to order a compact flash card and find the OS software.

What games do you recommend i try first?
are there any good first time user tutorials on prepping the memory card?

Hi,

get an uprated CD32 PSU you will need it for the terrible fire - torsti76 sells them on here.

I really think Liberation, Microcosm, Oscar, Zool, Alien Breed 3d are great to start with!
cheers.

First: Get it recapped ;-)

Welcome to Amiga!!

if your buying it from Supaduper or Alenppc they can supply a CF card as well, save all the messing about and is already setup, can always add any games/demos

I bought it from Alenppc, hes in my country so no customs to worry about. But he was out of CF cards so i ordered one from Amazon. Took time time to read up yesterday on how to make the card. I have workbench running in Winuae now. I managed to get PFS3aio uncompressed but it wont start, just nothing happens.

for some reason WinUAE wont let me add z3 fast ram, its greyed out, in the tutorials i found they increased it as far as it would go. its possible thats why PFS3AIO wont start.

Well it just arrived in the mail today. I burned the games recommended above and a few others. So far my favorites are All Terrain Racing, worms and lemmings. But i have only burned 5-6 disks so far so more to go.

I also received my SD card and spent about 6 hours trying to format it. No progress made so far. i can get it to mount in WinUAE and i can install the scsi drivers in my hard file etc, however my first hard file running workbench 3.1 sees its geometry as an 8GB drive however when creating partitions it only show 4GB of space to parition. I made a new hard file using different workbench disks and managed to see the whole 8GB of space and i was able to load in pfs3aio and partition the drive. But it never shows up as a mounted disk to be formatted no matter what i do. And if i make it bootable WinUAE wont boot anymore, it just gives me a red error box.

is it not possible to use win32diskimager to make an image of a working CF card and apply it to a new CF card to skip these steps? Has anyone tried that?

I ordered a few more toys yesterday

An Amiga mouse, and a cap kit

every once and a while a random texture will appear in the wrong spot for a frame or two, i assume that's cap kit related. I am going to try using the mouse to see what mode the CD32 is in (NTSC or PAL). I am noticing that pal games all appear shifted left and down, which may also be a cap problem. I watched a video that shows how to switch the CD32 into PAL or NTSC mode so i am going to give that a shot and see if it changes anything.

yeah , i have tried installing to my own CF card, i gave up in the end, and just backed up the 1 i got from Supadupa, tutorials make it look really easy on you tube, but it never goes like that when i try :(

Hope you can get it sorted, cant help with the pal/ntsc , as im in pal country, so no problems, might help if you have a screen that can display both as the older screens/monitors will probably not like pal as youve noticed.

I finally got the CF card working but I cheated. I had someone make an image of a working card of the same size using win32diskimager, then i restored that image to my card. Worked like a charm.

For the Pal/NTSC, i have read that holding down both mouse buttons during power up will bring you to a secret menu, that menu has options for changing the CD32 from NTSC to Pal and back. As for TV's most modern LCD screens can handle pal these days. Not sure if mine can but i will find out when my mouse arrives from Ebay.

So far my favorites are All Terrain Racing, worms and lemmings.

Great choices! ATR is ace but gets somwhat tiresome on the alien levels :D

My terrible fire adapter arrived, and i now have a working Compact Flash card but the cable and board to connect the two are stuck in shipping.... might take over a month to get here.

I also ordered a SCART cable from Germany, it should be here in a month as well.

I was thinking about buying a second controller but they are all over $100 after shipping, but my chances of stumbling across one that's cheaper seem unlikely.

Well done the TF330 is a very capable and nice kit. As for games try to get your hands on an AGA CF image with WHDLoad games in a game menu. Then you don't need to consider anymore what games to try, you can try more or less all.. ;)
