I picked up an "unused" A2000 at an auction in Japan. I'm already in the process of restoring an A4000, but I couldn't resist buying this one because it was so rare. The box was opened and it appears to be missing some items, but it still came with beautiful connectors, a rust-free back panel, an unused keyboard, an unused power cable, and two floppy disks.

So, what should I do first?
I'm writing this while resisting the urge to turn it on.

I'd appreciate some advice from those of you with more experience.

1) There was no paper manual.
2) No mouse included.
3) The keyboard connectors have caps on them, suggesting they've never been used.
4) Beautiful connectors and back panel.
5) Cork...? ? ?
6) Workbench and BASIC floppy disk.
7) Made in Taiwan.
8) Exploded.
9) Some kind of board (memory?)

1st off nice one.

2nd thing get that darn VARTA battery removed! As it’s eating up traces on the motherboard.

3rd Start watching some Chris Edwards YouTube content to discover what you need to do now to get the mainboard working again as it’s a given that system will not work.

Thanks ! I watch this !

First clean up the motherboard after removing that battery.
Some vinegar and alcohol 96% should help, then test it to see if it's working.

You are going to need something to display it, so a 15Khz monitor can do the trick, but there are also loads of adapters that can convert the signal to HDMI.
If it is working, then have the motherboard repaired professionally and certainly the PSU capacitors replaced.
But it is generally better to have an ATX psu in there, cause the Commodore PSU's are not good, even if it is fully overhauled.

Once that is done, you can start thinking of upgrades.
Now while there are lots of things passing for an A2000, the best thing is an all in 1 CPU card, with a 68030 or 68040 processor.

Thank you for your advice.
Amiga users should keep vinegar and alcohol on their workbenches. Thank you also for the advice on power supply issues. I'll check that it works first and then proceed with the upgrade.

I didn't bid because I didn't think it was unused.
It looks like the problem is due to a battery leak, so I think it can be easily repaired.
