When I read the recent sales post about an early A500 I had a strange feeling and decided to look at the one I have left after selling my spare.

I discovered to my horror that my serial number 279 A500 was not in it's box. I'd used the wrong box when storing the machines and now some guy in Thailand has my older A500. icard

I've said this before: Someone please hit me with a stick.

I'm never selling any of my collection ever. That will keep this from happening again.

I think I need to make myself feel better by purchasing the boxed and complete A3000 I see on fleabay.

They were both in near perfect condition. The boxes were different versions and for the specific machine. The serial number is on a sticker attached to the box and had matched the machines.

As far as the serial number itself mattering to me...I'm a collector. As with collectors of many other things low serials, first production run machines and those with history are more valuable to them. I'm not someone looking to simply buy any Amiga and max it out with modern components. I do have some I play with just for fun however most of my machines are complete with the right everything that came with them. I have the boxes, inserts, manuals, documentation, software and sometimes even the invoice that was with the specific machine when purchased. Based on YouTube videos some collectors are happy to have dirty, damaged, modified, incomplete and even non-functional machines in their collection, I am not one of these and I'm sure some others here are of the same opinion. Or perhaps I'm abnormal.

if it mattered so much you should of kept it in the box it was meant for if you valued it so dearly,its not a negative comment really but its self inflicted.

just accept you made a mistake and move on,its just a box and the computer is just a computer...low serial or not.

I get the fact it's my fault and while I'm not happy about this happening the fact is this thread was meant as little more than a poke at myself for doing it. It's not a digital version of me throwing myself on the floor in grief. I found your post odd but took it to also be a jest, even if it lacked a smiley. I see now it was not.

My response to the other fellow was just explaining my point of view since they didn't get it.
