I've had my 4000 serviced recapped and loads of other wonders done to it after nearly 10 years under the bed.

But this thing is fighting me all the way.

If its not random reboots, its black screen then a yellow then a green and even a red depending what it feels like.

Tonight i nearly got the last card back in without any errors. Then it decided it didnt like the cybervision and just going through all the colours of the rainbow after each reboot. So again everything gets unpluged and we start again.

I've got at 2 CF adapters and twice as many cards with slightly different installs, a pile of simms to try eliminate memory errors, just to try and get something stable.

Time to call it another night and go to bed

i think thats worthy of a rant

These things can be quite infuriating - at some point it makes sense to just get another motherboard and move all the peripherals over :)

You are learning the hard way that (in my opinion) owning an A4000 is a great big giant pain in the butt! I have one that works OK about 90% of the time, but I get random freezes, lockups and general pain in the buttness! I put it all down to bad case design and general overheating, I have quite a lot of extras in mine, 040 CPU, Picasso IV etc. I find myself using my A1200 most of te time these days as it's just to much pain worrying when the A4000 will randomly lock up.

So why you don't give A4000D some professional servce?
Not cheap/free of charge service done by Mr. Bean, but good and expensive one?
And to have 100% relaible machine back again?

lol, if only it were that simple, it has been serviced, been recapped, had battery replaced and had a general checkover but still no joy.

it has been serviced
I've seen a lot of "serviced" equipment and it looked worse than before.
So is your Amiga was "serviced" or serviced?

Example of "serviced" equipment here:

And maaaany more.

Amiga 4000 is not failing by no reason. Sorry to say that but Amiga has that condition that owner allowed ("10 years under bed"). If serviced, then obviously not serviced enough and you should reclaim it to the serviceman.

But what if there is no problem with Amiga, but with one of the components inside? The best way is to test with another CPU card, graphics card etc... Or take it to someone who can test and service it together. There few real experts on this web, just check their repair threads.

I wish you good luck, because every Amiga deserves the best care and "she" will return it back by joy and fun when playing games with you.
