I just paid for something in the EU and realized that the Dollar is rapidly reaching parity with the Euro. It's 1 dollar to 1.09 Euro now but still approaching 1:1. Will likely be 1 dollar to 1.05 Euro by this Fall.
Great for US Amiga lovers buying things from Amibay but obviously bad if we're trying to sell anything...

You got it backwards. It's 1 Euro to 1.09 Dollar. But you are right. It does make it harder to sell from USA to Europe. I have seen some analysis projecting it will go to 1 Euro to .75 - .85 Dollar.

Its a mystery how the dollar is valued considering the colossal level of debts of the USA

As soon as UK interest rates nudge upwards, I would think the £ will move back to being worth around $1.75 per £.

There are no prospects of Euro interest rate rises as their economy is shattered by weaker countries pulling the euro downwards.

Without wanting to get into a politics debate(as per the rules) I heard the powers that be were looking at dropping the import tax from the USA to EU. Seems to have gone quiet.

For the time being, it looks like that Euro has hit the bottom against Dollar and is slowly rising again, about to break $1,1.

Oops - yeah I totally wrote that reversed.

There is saying

Moneys doesnt buy you Happyness.......

but then again everyone think different...

On the bright side it makes purchasing stuff priced in Euros cheaper. :D Now if only international shipping rates would go down.

So glad the UK stayed out of the Euro. We would have been mad to ditch the Pound.

Norway is a part of europe but not EU nor uses Euro. In 2008 I needed only to spend 5,10 NOK each dollar, today it is 7,86 NOK each dollar. Same for the pound, two years ago it was 8,51 NOK each pound, right now it is ironically 11,666. Oh well.

It's all swings and roundabouts. All currencies continually fluctuate (usually for completely stupid reasons). Being part of the Euro would have been a huge advantage to the UK at some points in time, but just happens to be a disadvantage at the moment. There's no garantee that the dollar will continue it's course in that direction (in fact it's highly unlikely), by autumn it could have slid back quite a bit, so enjoy it while it's there.

Bryce.

The key is to spend abroad when it suits you. I bought absolutely loads of stuff from America when it was almost $2 to the pound in around 2007, and have only recently started buying in Europe now the Euro has weakened.

... and do it before they put up the prices. I've noticed petrol has gone up over the last month probably on the back of the weak Euro so no doubt that will have a knock on effect on other products starting with food.
