Hi all,

Received my Indivision Mk2 for my 1200 this morning. Fitted it this afternoon.

I'm a little disappointed to be honest. :( I'm using a DVI - VGA adapter, and there is very noticeable vertical banding on screen. Will this be resolved in a firmware update or is it a hardware/cabling issue?

Also I'm using a eyetech ezmouse ps2 adapter (now sold as the cocolino?) and it doesn't work when I have the indivision installed. I'm using an optical mouse, and sensor is lit up - so it's getting power etc. Works fine when indi not installed and using the composite out to a monitor.

I'm using a 200w matx psu out of a shuttle and had no problems before. Is this a known issue? My original mouse packed in ages ago. :(

Edit: It gets worse now. The amiga won't boot at all with the indi installed. If I have a disk in the drive it does an initial "chug" when you'd expect it to start loading but then it just stops. No display or anything. :( Remove the indi and it all boots up fine.

I'll try cleaning contacts etc but if it stays as is it's going back. :(

hi make sure is seated properly and it needs some force to click on

I forgot how infuriating old hardware can be.

I've managed to get it to work - by removing my blizzard 1230 accelerator. DVI output is working fine, no banding but has the "over to right hand side" issue as reported by others.

Even the mouse adapter works as well....

Odd thing is that I booted the system up to WB on my CF card with the accelerator in before as well, when I was testing things on initial install. So no idea why it isn't working now.

I guess only possible things left to try are different psu (even though this one is actually a 240w psu) and possibly different motherboard. If problem persists there's something odd going on with my accelerator now. everything was working fine before I installed the Indivision, although that may be incidental.... may just not like being fiddled with.

I don't think this a known issue, I agree that the indiv might not be seated correctly.

I have a CF card and blizzard 1230 and all is working fine with just my standard 1200 power supply.

Perhaps try cleaning the contacts between the accelerator and Motherboard, use IPA if you have some :)

You can even do the same with the indivision socket/lisa chip

Hope that helps

Steve.

Well, removed indi and reinstalled blizzard and everything works (as before).

Refitted indi.... (again, and have been making sure it "clicks" and seats properly each time) and would you believe it, it all worked. I do get some strange thing with clicking icons though sometimes. Mouse works as I can select windows etc, but icons.... no. Means I can't run anything. Keyboard shortcuts for mouse click don't work either - so suspect a util conflict or something. Was getting this before though.

Still - will see how things go. It's a 2B board so could be timing issues I guess?

On a related note - what's the extra cable for? Looks like an earth strap, but the screw and nut supplied only fits in the hole by the socket, and the cable won't reach any of the screws for the motherboard on my 1200.

It's a ground strap, however is weird the thing that is not long enough, have you checked the install papers for correct mounting instructions?

The earth strap goes attaches to the indivision aga by unscrewing the black spacer from the underside of the board. You'll now find the strap is long enough to reach the mainboard screw to the left of the trapdoor at the front of the machine..

The banding issue on DVI-A analog video (VGA) going into a digital flat panel (LED / LCD / Plasma) has been explained by Jens and can be fixed in firmware and will be soon with a tweak tool. No date for it's arrival though.

(EAB is banned at work so I cannot provide a link but just search through the Indivision MK2 thread for Schoenfeld)

No mention of it on the supplied printed docs, and it's not even shown in the picture of one installed....

...oh, actually there is a paragraph mentioning it in relation to EMI.

I'm getting annoyed now. Fitted the ground strap just in case it was a bad ground somewhere, which required removing and refitting the Indi again to do properly..

... working fine on DVI with accelerator in but mouse not working on ezmouse adapter again. Lights on etc just no movement from pointer... Arrrggghh!! keyboard shortcuts work though.

May try and track down a normal amiga mouse to make sure if it's an ezmouse or cia issue.

Well, managed to borrow another system (with a 1.D4 board and normal mouse). Transfered everything over to other system, inc cocolino - and had the same problems with the mouse....

Used a normal mouse and everything was fine. Transferred everything back to my own system, and using the normal mouse had no issues. Definitely seems to be an issue with the cocolino for me when I use everything together. Odd.

So - need to source a normal mouse I think. Or maybe try a proper ps/2 mouse on the cocolino (using a usb one via adapter at the mo, which worked fine previously...).

Aren't older systems "interesting".. :whistle::lol:

Wow, what a pain.

Installed mine in my A4000t with a single click, attached ground wire to a mother board mounting screw and ran the video cable to one of the 25-pin cutouts on the back of the case. It worked without a hitch and even fills the whole 16:9 screen of my monitor.

But yes, keeping old hardware in use with the help of new software and hardware is exciting. Could you imagine a PC from the same time frame surfing the net, playing mp3's, using USB peripherals, modern monitors, SATA drives, virtual memory, or multi-tasking?

I have a Commodore Colt PC 10/20 from the same era and I'm lucky to be able to use a mouse to move a square curser in MS Dos.

Think about that.

My Lisa / Indi overheats.

Now I have to figure out how to get a fan mounted onto it, where to power the fan from and which fan to buy that doesn't make a bloody great noise all the time.

One of the things I always loved about using an A1200 was the fact that they made no noise. Now I have an A1200 with a CPU fan and, soon, GPU fan!

@HonestFlames

Same here for me on my 1D4 MB.
Indivision mk2 is running extremely hot. After, let say, few minutes, the colors and screen are really unstable.
I was so happy to run my A1200 without fan..... I dislike the indy for this!
Is it the same with the old indy mk1 ??

I now finally got it to work with my crt... on the third time pushing the indi aga down really nicely.

Greatest thing is I can adjust the overscan/underscan to pixel perfect fit the 21" Nokia CRT screen!
All the blinking issues from indi aga mk1 seem fixed too! Its nice refresh rate now!

No signal through DVI out to Apple LCD. No signal with hdmi adapter to my tv.
