Not sure if this is the right place to ask, (so mods please move to the correct forum if necessary), but does anyone have any suggestions as to the best way to ship something the size of a blizzard 1230 mk IV from the UK to the US?

Cheers

Put it in a small box and assuming it has value send it International Small Packets signed for with Royal Mail. Couriers don't become cost effective until the weight goes over 1 kg from my experience.

Thanks all.

Just to talk about my little experience. I get 2 A4000T from the US shipped to France (standard internationnal mail), both in their original packet (nothing more to protect them !!!) 2 or 3 weeks after they arrived in good condition and ready to work...Was it just chance or a real good service all the way ?

Royal Mail offer the best options here.

As the item is under 2KG you should easily be able to ensure that the item is sent - with a record of reciept and fully insured. The following is based on 1.2KG

Airsure Small Packets
Delivery aim 4 days Up to £500 Delivery Confirmation £24.52

I would humble suggest that you ensure that both you and your trading party are covered - remember to read the small print as this may leave you waiting longer that you expect should a package go awry.

An important note about customs duties - if you know that this product originated from the US within the last three years then this item is duty tax exempt - you should state product returns upon the parcel with your customs declaration form.

Airsure is the better option as it is tracked where as signed for is only tracked in UK.

Prices are similar anyway :)

Sometimes there are also good deals on FedEx via Parcel2go

Wow, that is some arrangement.

Probably a bit of both - a little luck and some good service from people handling the goods.

I remember buying a Neo Geo arcade stick from Japan via surface mail which takes 3 months or so, untracked & uninsured etc. I totally forgot about it and had a pleasant surprise when it arrived some 4 months later :)

You take a risk with the cheaper options untracked/uninsured but it can work.
