Hello guys,

I've been offered to buy some Amiga stuff, but I wanted to check with you if the price is reasonable.

The package contains:
1 A1200HD PAL Rev unknown, kick unknown
1 accelerator card (Don't know which).
1 external floppy drive.
Mouse
PSU
1 A500 complete
1 1084S
Games, joysticks etc.
Everythin tested and working. Will get it delivered home.

Price asked is €**

Fair?

Best regards,

Sparky

It is only fair if you think it's fair. We don't answer such questions as it is deemed as price driving, which is against the rules of Amibay.

Looks like it is for an A1200 and an A500 with lots of extras. It sounds reasonable I think. BTW, asking for buying advice does not harm anyone.

You'll need to know what Accelerator is included before you can value it however at Amibay we cannot give you a valuation because it is against our price driving rules.

Other sites such as EAB (English Amiga Board) or Amiga.org might be able to help you out.

Or you can check the completed sale threads here or at eBay to give yourself an idea of what they sell for.

But as I say you need to know the Accelerator as they vary so much in price.

All the best,

Steve.

Sorry. I didn't realise this was price driving since I didn't state that the package was worth the price asked. I just asked the general opinion and I couldn't find a rule against that. :(

Basically, any questions along the lines of "What do you think of this price for X?" in any situation is price-driving.

An item is worth whatever a buyer is willing to pay for it and a seller is willing to accept for it.

And you're also left dangling with the "Some unknown accelerator card", it's no secret that accelerator cards tend to make up the bulk of any package valuation. Not knowing whether it's just 4MB FastRAM or a fully-loaded BlizzardPPC, or anything between, it's impossible to make a fair valuation.

Still, not to worry, the rules around here seem a little perverse at times (Who makes a trading site where you don't discuss prices?) but we've found they really work. Stick about and you'll begin to see why we do things the way we do! Grab yourself a cuppa and have a read of the forum rules. As I say, they're a little different to most places, but should help you out.

Anyways, at this point, I think it's probably best to close this thread.
