Recently i bought a Scart to HDMI converter from Amazon (this one) to connect my A1200 to a 4:3 19" LCD monitor with a DVI input using a RGB to Scart cable and a HDMI to DVI adapter.

The converter should be able to sync to a resolution of 1280x1024@60Hz (native monitor resolution) using the 720p/1080p button.
The problem is...it doesn't work, the monitor keep saying "no signal input" even after pressing the resolution button or the PAL/NTSC button.

Connecting the adapter to a HDMI input of my 39" TV i can see a picture with very poor quality, not centered, wrong aspect ratio (even forcing 4:3) and i can only switch between 2 resolutions 720p and 1080p without any improvement.
Same thing happens using my 22" PC monitor's HDMI and DVI inputs, only 2 resolutions available (720p and 1080p), very blurry, not centered and faded picture with wrong aspect ratio.

The RGB to Scart cable works perfectly connected directly to the TV without the adapter and gives a good quality picture, centered with correct aspect ratio and vivid colours.

Am I doing something wrong or it's a faulty unit?

Every one of the SCART to HDMI converters I've tried so far has been pretty rubbish and often supplied with dangerous PSU's. They tend to cause input lag and over sharpen the image. Total waste of time.

Wouldn't surprise me that the PSU of the converter is faulty so try another.

Thanks chinnyhill10, i will try another PSU as soon as possible.

I did some more test using the stock PSU on a ps2 slim, the image quality is a bit better but the screen is vertically stretched (i can't see entirely the upper and the lower portion of the screen), the colors are over saturated and of course only 2 resolutions are available (720p/1080p). There are also some white little dots in different areas of the screen.

I've seen some reviews on YouTube (i don't know if they are the same model, there is no brand on the metal case but they look identical) and i've noticed an OSD appears on the bottom left of the screen when powering on the unit or when changing the resolution which tells you some information about input, screen mode and so on.
Well that OSD doesn't show up on my converter at all, the only way i can tell the resolution has changed is by looking to my TV OSD.

Hope to solve all those issues with another power supply otherwise the unit is definitely faulty and I will be forced to return it.

I have exactly the same converter, I tested on three monitors with HDMI and VGA It works great.
Sometimes the problem may be in HDMI to DVI adapter

I tested it with 3 different monitors/TV using only HDMI and the behaviour is always the same.
I tried another power supply as suggested, no changes.

Definetely a faulty unit.

I have one that looks just like it. It will output 800x600, 1024x768 and 1280x1024 in addition to 720p and 1080p, however, I have seen others which will only output 720p and 1080p. I guess it depends on the configuration inside. While the still-picture quality is decent, generally I don't like to use it though due to high latency and motion filtering. I get sea sick from using a mouse on it. :)

I have had two of those (one was a gift for a friend), when I tested one of them it would flicker the image on and off - this was due to a very unstable power supply as soon as I got a good stable power supply for it it worked flawlessly.
