Just purchased an A1200....what can I do with it?

Just won an auction on the other Bay for a stock A1200. It comes with the PSU and an uninstalled 2GB HDD. Other than an A600 which I tried to mod last year, this is only my second working Amiga. I need help guys! Lots of it

I know I need a mouse (was looking at the PS2 mod so I can use normal PC mouses - is there another way?) but apart from that what else can I do with it?

I am particularly looking at doing my own mods, ones that require a soldering iron and some flux....I like flux Oh and schematics that no-one can read, they are good too!

I suppose the first port of call is to work out how I am going to connect it to my LCD. GBS-8220 or proper scan-doubler? What leads will I need? Any advice?

Secondly, I want to replace the caps, what do I need to look out for? What else can I replace to give this thing a little longer on this planet?

I have limited funds so an 060 accelerator is out of the question. Would much prefer to mod the life out of it with homebrew stuff than commercial additions.

So can anyone hold my hand, I mean guide me please?

If you want to upgrade, I'd recommend an ACA 1230. That would give you a sweet setup for WHDLoad and plenty of memory to play with.

A small RAM upgrade is a cheaper option if you want to go the WHDLoad route without the extra CPU speed but bang for buck, the 030 is highly recommended.

Agree with amineo, i have a 2010, aca1230 and it represents excellent value for money

(Amineo, i bought it from portarinos? Maybe he bought it from you? I can't remember where he got it from)

The ACA range of accelerators are preferred for me as they represent good hardware expansions that are new - with new components as opposed to the rest of the older 15-20 year old accelerators.

Having a 20 year old amiga is enough, why risk further reliability probs with similarly old hardware expansions?

Some have claimed timing issues with aca range - never had a problem with my 2b and 1d4 mobo's.

I understand timing issues are largely in the domain of apollo's but blizzards are not immune either.
