In fact you can use the 40.70 ROM from A4000T. All you need is to grab the Workbench.library and toss the archive on the LIBS: drawer. the SCSI controller will be not loaded as the expansion.library will not find it anywhere.

Most people use the 40.70 instead the 40.68 using this trick.

40.70 lacks the workbench.library to make enough room for the 2nd.SCSI.device (the built-in SCSI controller).

Not quite. The A1200 3.1 ROM contains a few other trinkets, such as the PCMCIA support. I don't think you'll have much joy using an A4000T ROM in an A1200.
