On the off chance anyone is interested in this! This is my spare Laserdisc player CLD-1450 comes with remote and high quality SCART lead, I really have to save space now as we are redecorating the house, so will go down to just one player.

There are a couple of issues with this one as below

  • The tray does open fine but you have to push it to close.
  • The player did not play discs when first switched on after being in storage. So I opened it and cleaned the lens and then it was fine - played a whole disc of Ghostbusters to test.

A couple of films to go with it - Star Wars Original Trilogy SE boxset, Terminator 2 and Ghostbusters I and II. The artwork is beautiful, you just don't see stuff like that anymore on DVDs and Blu Rays.

There is no real reason to own such things these days - it more a curiosity item! But there are still some music LDs and films not released on DVD yet and it is certainly a conversation piece when watching Star Wars.

£25 collected, just the same as the price I paid picking it up from Blackpool many years ago :)

This is collection only really, it is very heavy and with such equipment (and its age) it does not deserve to be smashed around as these players cost an awful lot when first released

damn i wish i had the money for this it's an awesome bit of kit

Thanks Yorkie, this is my spare player, not the same one you saw :) I'll be keeping that one

I wish I could have owned originally it back in the 1990s :D

Can reserve it and hold it back for a period of time if you like?

Mate, If you could arrange courier delivery I would love to take it off your hands..

TC :)

I really think collection was the only way to do this, I can't convey just how massive and heavy the unit is!

I've replied to hyperfan and just for the benefit of all, I'm going to consider over the week whether I can get any suitable "structure!" to courier this.

With my house upside down from decoration and work this week, its a bit tricky but I will investigate and consider next weekend what can be done.

Its first reserve to hyperfan on this basis but no guarantees on any courier service on offer at this point. There is just so much chaos in this house sorry

Man, this takes me back, remember repairing one of these just after finishing my apprenticeship.

Replaced the laser (damn annoying it was to), then had it on test for 3 weeks. Customer came in to collect it and the damn thing died just as he walked through the door, I was gutted, 3 weeks it ran for.

Those 3 weeks, I learnt every word to Airplane, lol.

I have taken a look at posting this to hyperfan (and anyone else thereafter) and several things conspire to make this difficult. I did make it clear in the advert that is was collection only, so I am sorry to disappoint but I have tried.

It would need double boxing (ok - got banana boxes which are strong) with shed loads of wrap and material which I just don't have enough of.

Then after all that, I need a courier to pick it up - these guys only come during the week and I work long hours so its just not going to work. :(

I collected both my laserdisc players so for those hoping to find one, I got my 2 players over the years from www.avforums.com you can put a wanted ad there or see what is for sale. I think there a lot of people passing them on now and maybe local to you. Good luck.

Over to the next interested party which looks like r0jaws.

It has pride of place on the floor of my living room!

Wifey thought I was only borrowing it, and was overjoyed when I corrected her. :D
