For sale in a Macintosh Quadra 800 & Keyboard & Mouse
I originally bought this Mac (along with a Quadra 650, which is also listed) because I intended to cannibalize it for Amiga projects due to its 68040@33 CPU and 50-pin SCSI hard drive. I assumed both machines had suffered severe battery damage. However, after disassembling both, I discovered that the battery areas of both Macs were in flawless condition. As a result, I couldn’t bring myself to dismantle them and instead fully disassembled, cleaned, and restored them to working order
(I am no Macintosh guy at all and never had one before). Interesting fact: Both, the 800 and the 650 seem to have the exact same mainboard.
The Quadra 800 comes with a 68040@33 CPU, 36 MB RAM (4 MB onboard + 4 x 8 MB), and 2x 512 kB Video RAM.
It comes with a formidable 2.1 GB SCSI-HDD (50 pin) with an installed MacOS 8.1. The original old installation also comprises PageMaker 6.0, Adobe Distiller 2.1 and Adobe Photoshop 3.0 – the software seems to be licensed to the previous owner.
It also comes with a (I guess) graphics card. The BIOS-chip is labelled with SuperMac Spec/24 IV v1.6. Each memory chip MT42C4256DCJ (256x4) has 128kB, so I guess the card got 3 MB VideoRAM? Both video connectors (mainboard and graphics card) show a screen, the graphics card screen shows 1024x768 pixels. I would sell that adapter seperately.
The power supply has been completely disassembled and washed — it looks like new.
The keyboard is fully functional, but a key is missing! There is also slight yellowing from a keyboard stencil. The mouse also operates without any issues.The keyboard cable has a broken pin. EDIT: comes now with a working keyboard cable
Included is also an adapter but I have no idea what you use that one for (see pictures). I also would sell that adapter seperately.
The Quadra only shows minor yellowing on the front and back side, but the metal case got a little dent on the side (see picture). There is not a single broken plastic clip.
I added for fun some pictures of the cleaning process!
