Hi Everyone,
I caught the retro bug midway through last year and bought my (pauses to count) seventh retro computer just before Christmas. I'm a Commodore fan from way back with my first computer being a C64 in the mid 80s. I had a Grandfather and Uncle who were into computers so got to use various Commodore machines during their heyday including a CBM 8096, SX-64 Executive and a 128D. I've always kept a C64 in the cupboard that I bought in the 90s (I sold my personal one to buy a Stereo CD Player of all things, typical teenager!) and was rather disappointed to find it had expired when I unpacked it last year. So started the Retro bug.
I started slow with a Commodore 64C and various cartridges and tapes. Fortunately my old 1541 in the cupboard worked and so did most of the disks I had kept. The 1541-II that came with the 64c had major head alignment issues which I was later able to fix by buying a cheaper 1541-II that had a faulty processor board and combining the two to make one good 1541-II. Since then I've bought a very pristine C128 and my latest endeavour is in the land of the Amiga.
As I sold my C64 toward the end of the 80s and bought CD's instead of games I was one of those people who never caught the Amiga bug and so never owned one and only used them in passing when visiting mates. So while looking for a suitable CRT screen for my recently purchased retro C64c I ended up getting an Amiga 500 in the process. Currently my Amiga collection consists of the following:
Pretty much everything needs some attention so that will keep me busy for some time. All this Amiga stuff has seriously distracted from reliving my C64 days but it is such a blast I can't stay mad at the Amiga
Anyway hopefully i'll get to know a few of you during my fix up trials. I tend to prefer to work things rather than just cry for help so if you hear from me i'm REALLY stuck
I've enjoyed reading the forums and hope that I can add to the huge knowledge repository and community that is Amibay!
So from way down here in New Zealand a big warm hello to all.

So while looking for a suitable CRT screen for my recently purchased retro C64c I ended up getting an Amiga 500 in the process. Currently my Amiga collection consists of the following:
- A500 with 1MB RAM, running KS 1.3. Works well.
- A600 with 1MB RAM, running KS 2.05. Has a faulty keyboard, caplock stays on and no keys work. Was working briefly
- A1200 with 2MB RAM, running KS 3.0. Has faulty keyboard (bad membrane) and faulty floppy drive. 1D3 motherboard.
- A1200 with 2MB RAM, running KS 3.1. Keyboard right Amiga key doesn't work, (membrane again). Rev 2? motherboard. IDE Fix with DVD Rom drive (external) and 4GB Microdrive
- A4000/40 with 2MB Chip, 16MB Fast RAM, running KS 3.0. Rev B main board and v3.1 3640 proc board. I inherited this in a terrible PC case partially uninstalled. I've cleaned it up and it boots! (woohoo) so i'm embarking on a custom case project as I don't have an original case for it and the PC case it came in is NOT suitable. I have an aluminium case and a friend with a CNC Mill so hopefully I can come up with something nice. Next step is to get those Caps replaced.
