I 've picked up this device quite a while ago from evilbay: (it has no case)

http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/megamix500

It's for my towering project, I wanted to lead wires to it, have the memory and my scsi disk in my A500 tower in a free space.

I've tested today with my A500 and it does not power on the amiga.

The only time it powers on, is without it's controller board.

thans for helping (i've connected the power switch wires together etc..)

Common behaviour on old A500 era: you must power on the expansions first, then the Amiga.

Rkauer,

Sorry It did not come with power, I thought it took it's power from the A500.

I see it has a swich wire (connected them together, and a led wire)

Without the switch connected it does not boot to.

Power on and then reset does not help,

Is it a power problem, should I trie another psu, the one using know is A500 electric type.

Probably that expansion requires too much current. Is your brick a 65W one (4.5A on the +5V rail) or the underpowered common heavy brick?

read the voltage level in the 5V rail with the Amiga turned on (and with the expansion attached).

Also verify the A500 side connector for oxidation and the device connectors for some thing that may stops it for working.

It defenitely has not enough power when another expansion is connected.

(scsi disk spinning, making pitty sounds)

The A500 already lost it's housing, since I am towerising, but I will use this device to provide my "flex cable" solution. If it turns up not working, I will remove the control card.

It works as pass through without controller card.

What I planned to do is to cut and fix a molex connector to +5 +12 pins. (numbering them, making sure no blow up!)

If the project moves the A500 will be in tower with in a couple of day's.
