I've been offered a Z3i and was wondering whether it was worth the low price of 150 euros. Does anyone know more about it's value? I've been told it's quite uncommon.

Furthermore, I'd like to know if it's possible to use this busboard in combination with a Mediator 3000/4000 (Mediator 1200 will obviously not work) and a CPPC.

I consider buying this board and upgrading to a Cyberstorm PPC, whenever I stumble upon one (I'm in the process of acquiring a Blizzard 1260/77MHz, so it doesn't really matter when, as long as it does happen).

My ideal setup would be a towerized Amiga 1200 with Z3i, Mediator 3000, Voodoo 5 5500, Radeon 9200/256MB, Cyberstorm PPC@330MHz and a bunch of UW-SCSI drives (my current main concern is not having fast enough HDD controllers on my classic/non-PPC Amiga).

Would that work/be stable?

I've already posted the same question on Amiga.org and the verdict there is that it will either be unreliable or not work at all (due to the lack of DMA, supposedly).

In answer to your first question AmiBay does not allow for comments on an items worth or value. Have a lookie here

I'm sure some of our more techie members will be only too happy to answer the rest of your questions.

Your dream setup is asking for trouble. The combination of parts you intend to use was never designed to work together; you could run into some serious problems. The Z3i board does offer Zorro-III specs; but your machine lacks a Buster chip.

If you want to go that route your better choice would be to skip Zorro alltogether and opt for a Mediator 1200, and a BlizzardPPC. If you really want UW SCSI you should consider upgrading to a true Zorro III based machine; slicht preference would be the 4000.

Upgrading your HD controller in the 1200 could be done by either opting for a BlizzardPPC+ (the version including SCSI), or opt for the FastATA controller by Elbox. Combine that with a small SSD drive and off you go!
