Get your minds out of the gutter...

Does anyone know where to purchase replacement mouse balls for our dear retro mice? I have lots of Amiga and 8-Bit Commodore mice and would like to stock up on some replacements since mouse balls are going the way of the Dodo.

Thanks!

*EDIT* By the way, those are his feet!

Thanks for the links guys. Have you actually tried either of these brands or did you just Google them? I'd prefer to get some that people have already tried. :)

Thanks!

Well, if none of you are going to try & be sensible....:roll:

@SdG

Have you tried here? I replaced a ball in my MS Serial Mouse which was converted for my Amiga.

You'll need a Vernier Caliper or Micrometer to measure your ball. :twisted:

@Shoonay

LOL! Mr. Bucket... :rofl3

@JuvUK & Kin

Yes... I'll need to measure my mouse balls to see how big they are... That's just wrong on so many levels. :) Fortunately, we have calipers at work so I can get some accurate readings. I guess Kin's the only one who's done a replacement?

I'll get the measurements and order some from somewhere then update this thread with the quality of the replacement. Maybe the information will help others in the future. :)

Thanks guys!

@ Heather,

what's the problem with old mouse-balls?
I have really old mice and the only problem was the elastic cover of them became a bit hard, but I managed to restore it using IPA.

This won't work because the balls must be covered with rubber, to provide better 'grip' with the motion shafts.
