Hi there! I purchased a Plipbox from a fellow amibayer and got my a500 (with aca500plus) connected to the next. It seems to work as I was able to ping Google. Great. So now what should I do? It occurs to me that a web browser is likely off the table for this thing. Maybe BBS? Or downloading and playing mods? Any suggestion is appreciated.

I wouldn’t dismiss the Web Browser. Ibrowse is the one and only currently supported browser for the Amiga. Ideal for Aminet downloads and some Amiga friendly websites. Also supports the latest AMISSL.
You can also setup and use Samba for file transfer as well as using AMIFTP.

The only thing that will make things slow is unfortunately the plipbox and the A500.

thank you for getting back to me. I assumed that ibrowse would be too slow on a 14mhz 68000. Given that it’s not free, I want to make sure I get a little joy out of it.

What’s going to be the best way for me to connect to a bbs? DCTelnet?

Although you won’t be using Ibrowse (You can download the demo to try which lasts 30 minutes a go) then Aminet is the place to go for this sort of software:

BBS

DCtelnet:

I keep getting an error #80000004 when trying to run DCTelnet. I looked at the guide and it appears that it’s compiled for a 68020 and an internet search seemed to confirm. Any other suggestions for Telnet?

Well after much trial end error, I purchased Roadshow and took the groups advice and tried out IMP3. Wow, what an awesome program! It worked and the instructions I found were quite good! Thank you for the advice!
