So I bought a cheap C64C and i know why it was so cheap.

the keyboard is so yellow/brown that it looks like if the council ran over it with there double yellow line paint.

That photo really dont show just how bad it really is.

When I went to look inside it was just as bad.

Once i cleaned it up as much as i could i suddenly found out the cassette deck wouldnt work at all. It would turn the tape but nothing else. Also when i took the door off the deck i found out they had used butter for the hinges.

Anyway I went looking about on eBay and found they had black keyboards for the C64 which i assume was for another commodore computer. If these work I am very tempted in getting one and spraying the case black as well.

Kind of making a Last Ninja Edition of the C64c. I also want to fit the sd2iec inside the system once i get the paint job done.

I also want to fit a SwinSID as well to really make the sound better.

Its only just begun but i have some good idea's for such a wreck of a computer.

Good Stuff m8

if it is a keyboard from a C64 breadbin it is inter-changeable with the C64c

Is the keyboard like this one on my resprayed c64c ??

He's probably not fitted the Sidfix to the 8580.

You add a pull-up resistor (330 Ohm IIRC) to pins 14 and 26 of the SID and it restores the original sounds that they filtered out with the later SIDS.

A lot of games and demos used white noise and other sounds in the 6581 SID and Commodore didn't realise that when they cleaned up the sound on the 8580.

yeah they are the keyboards i saw.

I wanted to fit the SwinSID into the C64 as its a great way to enhance the sound and of course there is no soldering which although i can do, but i am not the best at doing it.

If your using a breadbin keyboard on a C64c the cable will be tight
it's a bit longer on a C64c at least that's how it worked on
one I did for a friend..

cheers on the advice chris

Seeing how Paradroid90's C64 is I think I might see if i can change the red LED to a white LED or something as the LED is rather dark when you use a dark colour. Also I dont know yet if I will keep the badge as it might stick out like a sore thumb.

Variations ... ;)

That black with brown keys looks rad!

But why replace the real deal with an emulator? How do you enhance that?
